BIOGRAPHY
Scott Monarch made a
name for himself during his college career
by earning SWAC conference All-Freshman
honors at Mississippi Valley State
University. After receiving his masters from
the Baylor University, Scott began the
pursuit of his coaching career.
It did not take long for Scott to find
success, helping lead Kentucky Wesleyan
University to the 1998 Division II National
Championship Game as an Associate Head
Coach. Scott moved on to a head coaching
position at Panola College in Carthage,
Texas. During his six seasons at Panola,
Scott compiled a record of 119-62, earning
NJCAA Region XIV Coach of the Year honors in
2003 after leading the Ponies to a regular
season conference championship. Scott left
Panola as the winningest coach in the
school’s history to assist in the rebuilding
of the University of New Orleans basketball
program. After bringing in the #50 ranked
recruiting class by Hoop Scoop magazine,
Scott moved on to coach Tyler Junior College
to a record of 25-3 and #10 ranking amongst
Junior Colleges Nationally in 2008.
The success that Scott has brought to the
programs that he has coached has been fueled
by his tremendous recruiting prowess
throughout the South and Mid West. At
Kentucky Wesleyan, Scott recruited four
players who would become first team
All-Americans, two of which would continue
on to become National Players of the Year.
Being a native of the South, Scott's
relationships and contacts are outstanding -
and with his marquee name and ability to
relate to kids and families, it's no
surprise that he's been able to bring top
high school players to his programs year
after year.
During his career, Monarch has helped guide
42 players to NCAA Division I programs from
the junior college ranks and nearly 20 to
all-conference accolades. He also coached
the all-time scoring leader in junior
college history, Omar Thomas.
He started his career at McLennan Community
College in 1990 and coached there for three
seasons. He then went on to spend three
seasons at Navarro College. Monarch also
served as an assistant coach at Grambling
State in 1998-99.
Monarch is married to the former Stephanie
Peters and the couple has a daughter,
Samantha (1).

Quotes about Scott Monarch:
"He is a tireless worker, no matter the day
or the project, and is willing to do
whatever it takes for our program to have
success; on and off the floor… I am grateful
he has joined our staff. His character is
another superb example that our players will
be able to see on a daily basis, and that is
the most important thing to me."
- Marquette
University Head Coach Buzz Williams
